A Specialist Nurse, Mrs Margaret Wright is available most mornings to offer appointments or advice for a range of services including chronic disease management and the treatment of minor illness.
Practice Nurses are available Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. - 12 noon and from 2.00 - 5.30 p.m. for various nursing procedures and advice. You are asked to book an appointment but it may be possible to speak to a nurse for advice if you ring on 01536 522633.
District Nurses can be contacted at the Centre between 11.00 a.m. - 12 noon Monday to Friday. Our reception staff will also take messages and pass them on. Patients who require nursing care in the home should arrange with the doctor for a district nurse to call.
Health Visitors are available at the Centre from 9.00 - 10.00 a.m. Monday to Friday and for various Clinics as advised by your Health Visitor. They can be telephoned directly on 01536 526599 or a message may be left with the receptionist.
The practice Midwife can help you with many aspects of pregnancy and immediate postnatal care. She is involved in antenatal clinics and messages may be left for her with the receptionist.
A MacMillan Nurse, Community Psychiatric Nurse and Community Occupational Therapist are also available for patients who have been referred by their doctor.
The practice also contracts with a Pharmacist Advisor. Your doctor will arrange referral as appropriate.
Minor Surgery
The practice undertakes minor surgery to help save long waits for hospital treatment. Suitable procedures include removal of warts, moles, skin lesions etc. Your doctor will be pleased to discuss any enquiry you may have.
Minor Injuries
The practice provides treatment for minor injuries to avoid the need for patients to attend the accident and emergency centre at the local hospital. Please notify the receptionist that you need treatment for a minor injury and give brief details to ensure appropriate referral to doctor or nurse.
Health Checks
A health screening is included in the registration process. This will be undertaken by a member of the Practice Nurse Team and will include a check of your blood pressure, weight, height and urine. You will be asked to provide relevant information about your health background.
Any registered patient who has not been seen by a GP or Nurse at the Practice in the previous 3 years, may ask for a health check. During this check all appropriate examinations and investigations will be undertaken by a health care professional.
Any registered patient 75 years of age or over, who has not been seen by a GP or Nurse at the Practice in the previous 12 months may ask for a health check. During this check all appropriate examinations and investigations will be undertaken by a health care professional.
