Survey Results – 2009
Summary
A national Survey was conducted during the first half year to September 2009. Although the wording of the various questions has changed from our previous surveys we have made every attempt to match as closely as possible. Figures shown in red indicate the comparative result for 2008. Figures shown in blue indicate the comparative result in 2007. Figures shown in green indicate the comparative result in 2006.
1. 100 questionnaires were included in the survey.
2. 96% 95.27% 85.38% 87.7% of patients were very satisfied or fairly satisfied with the helpfulness of receptionists (63% 35.63% 29% 8.2% said very helpful)
3. 86% 56% 35% 38% of our patients are very satisfied or fairly satisfied with the hours we are currently open.
4. 70% 75.27% 68.90% 61.9% of patients were always, almost always or a lot of the time able to see the particular doctor they prefer. 29% 9.45% 19.38% 22% said some of the time.
5. 89% 90.55% 94.16% 91.3% of patients were able to see a doctor within 2 working days,
6. 65% of patients had been able to book an appointment more than 2 full weekdays in advance.
7. 90% 92.3% 99% 98% of patients were seen within the 30 minutes promised in our charter, 74% 72.72% 65% 50.8% felt they did not normally have to wait too long!
8. 77% 80% 53.85% 52.3% of patients felt their ability to get through on the phone was easy or fairly easy. 15% had not tried.
9. 59% of patients did not want us to open additional time, 41% did and of those 50% wanted us to open on a Saturday and 34% after 6.30 p.m.
10. Returns for GP consultation were excellent – 91% felt the time given was good or very good. 92% felt the doctor asking about symptoms was good or very good, 94% felt the doctor listening to them was good or very good, 82% felt the doctor explaining tests and treatment was good or very good, 78% felt the doctor involving them in decisions about their care was good or very good with 11% stating it did not apply, 89% felt the doctor treating them with care and concern was good or very good.
11. 99% of patients had confidence and trust in the doctor they saw.
12. 75% of patients felt it was very easy to get an appointment with a practice nurse.
13. 88% felt the practice nurse gave them enough time, 73% felt the practice nurse was good or very good at asking about their symptoms. 77% felt the practice nurse was very good or good at listening to them, 80% that the practice nurse was good or very good at explaining tests and treatments. 62% felt the practice nurse was good or very good at involving them in decisions about their care, 80% that the practice nurse was good or very good at treating them with care and concern.
14. 35% 35.3% 34% 32% of those responding were male and 65% 66% 68% were female.
15. 75% of those who responded were between 35 and 74 years of age.
16. 43% 45.1% 45% 47.4% considered they had a long-standing illness, disability or infirmity.
17. 88% 84% 90% 92% put British as their ethnic group.
18. 43% 35.6% 50% 53.6% were employed and 23% 30.9% 28% 25.2% retired.
