Travel Sustainably to Our Practice
Eskdaill Medical are committed to creating a healthier planet for everyone. As part of our journey to becoming a greener practice, we’re encouraging sustainable travel options for all our patients and visitors.
Why Sustainable Travel?
Transportation is one of the largest contributors to carbon emissions, by choosing greener travel options, you help reduce pollution, protect the environment, and improve air quality in our community.
Cars, especially those powered by petrol and diesel, release large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO₂), a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. Transportation is one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, and reducing car use is a key step in combating climate change.
Vehicles emit harmful pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), and particulate matter. These pollutants degrade air quality, harm respiratory health, and are linked to diseases such as asthma and lung cancer.
Walking or Cycling
If you live nearby, walking or cycling to your appointment is a fantastic way to reduce your carbon footprint while staying active and healthy.
Public Transport
Our practice is well-served by local bus routes, making public transport a great option for reaching us without the need to park. Check your local bus timetable to find the most convenient route. The local bus company's website can be found here: Bus Journey Planner | Find Bus Routes | Stagecoach
Car Sharing
If driving is your only option, why not consider car sharing with a friend, family member, or neighbour? Sharing a ride not only cuts down on emissions but also helps reduce traffic and parking demand around our practice.
Limited Parking Availability
Parking availability around our practice is extremely limited, reflecting the challenges of urban spaces and the environmental impact of car use. The above options not only reduce environmental strain but also help ease congestion and improve air quality around the practice. Cars contribute to traffic congestion and the “urban heat island effect,” where concrete and asphalt surfaces absorb and retain heat, raising temperatures in urban areas and worsening the effects of climate change.
What This Means for You
By supporting sustainable travel, you’re not just helping the environment but you’re helping us create a healthier, greener community for everyone.
