Appointments

All attendances at the surgery are by appointment only. To obtain an appointment, complete an online consultation, telephone on 01536 522633, or book selected appointments online (via NHS App or ONLINE SERVICES). GP appointments are not available online as you may be more suited to consult with another healthcare professional (nurse practitioner, pharmacist, physiotherapist, mental health practitioner). This will save the GP appointments for those who have no alternatives.

Our appointment system is designed to accommodate most of our patients’ needs but any constructive feedback is very much appreciated.

We will always ask you what the problem is so we can direct you to the appropriate clinician. You may choose not to disclose your problem but this might affect the appropriateness of booking and prevent others from getting the help they need.

We will do our best to accommodate your request, but we cannot guarantee availability of a particular clinician at a particular time.

Help us to give you the most convenient time by using the booking system appropriately:

  • Pre-bookable Appointments

Please ask reception for a pre-bookable appointment, if your issue is not urgent for the day/week, we are able to pre-book an appointment for up to 6 weeks in advance.

If you have been asked to come back and see a doctor, please book it before leaving the building. Future appointments are limited and must be booked well in advance.

  • Same Day Appointments

If you need to see a Clinician urgently, every effort will be made for you to be offered an appointment that day (face-to-face or via telephone), however you may be directed to other services (community pharmacist, NHS 111 service, self-help).

Please ring at 08:00 sharp, our telephone lines are extremely busy straight away but if you get a ringing tone please hold on - we will answer your call as soon as a care navigator becomes available. You can also use our online consultation facility between 07:30 - 09:30 am if you are unable to wait in the telephone queue.

If our booking system is inappropriate for you for a particular reason, please share this with our reception team - they will always try to accommodate your request.

Always report to reception when you arrive for your appointment. If you do not check in, the clinician will not know you have arrived and you may be asked to re-book.

Please remember to cancel an unwanted appointment - another patient may need it.

Home Visits
Please do not ask for a home visit if you are at all able to attend the Surgery. The facilities for examination and treatment are better here and the less time a doctor spends travelling, the more time is available for patients.  Visits should be requested before 10:00 am. To help the doctor, the receptionist will ask for brief details of the illness and a contact telephone number.  It is ultimately up to the Doctor to decide if a home visit is needed and this will be based on medical need only. A request for a home visit does not guarantee a home visit, the doctor will telephone the patient and discuss the best way forward.
